A brief tour through the village which allow the visitor to get acquainted
with the main attractions of the village for later further exploration
how it works
After leaving hotel we visit the ruins of the imposing Garcia D ´Ávila castle (1556), once the home of the largest landowner in the New World, set on the lands of what was the first farm in Brazil. From here we have a panoramic view of the northern coastline. We then visit headquarters of the TAMAR Project, the national sea turtle preservation project and one of Brazil´s most successful ecological programs. The visitors' center provides a unique up-close view of these majestic animals.

Whale Watching
The Bahian coast is world famous as a nesting ground for the humpback whale (megaptera novaeangliae). Their main physical characteristic is the extremely long pectoral fins which can measure up to 5 metres. The humback though is one of the most endangered species on the planet, the one-time population of 150,000 is now estimated to be 35,000.
