marimbus wetlands
An opportunity to investigate other aspects of the Chapada Diamantina National Park, visiting the extensive wetlands fed by the Roncador (or Snoring) River and remote village of Remanso
how it works
Depart hotel at 08:30 by vehicle and head for the quilombo village of Remanso, a remote village inhabited by descendants of runaway slaves. Here we will take to the waters of the Marimbus wetlands and row gently downstream through the slow moving river laden with water lilies and other river plant life. Row time can vary between 1 ½ and 3 hours depending on client. Destination is the Roncador River for a cool swim and refreshing hydro-massage from the surrounding cascades that feed into the natural rock pools. Optional lunch at a local inhabitant’s house serving typical local cuisine. After "Roncador" pool we will take the old diamond miners dirt road where you can see the remnants of the diamond prospecting. We will arrive in Lençóis in the late afternoon.
